Pastoral Care
Christ calls us to care for our neighbors, inside the church and outside of it. Pastoral care is the language we use to describe the way we look after those who call St. Mary's their home.
Our priests do a lot of the pastoral care – including private and confidential conversations, hospitals visits, home visits, etc. There are also Lay Ministers that help us reach more people within the congregation.
If you are in the hospital, sick, having surgery, or otherwise need special prayers please let one of the priests know so we can appropriately respond to your needs. If you would like to add yourself or someone else to the parish prayer list please contact the church office.
Lay Eucharistic Visitors
If someone is unable to join the worshiping community for Eucharist on a Sunday morning, the church can come to them. Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEM) are trained by the clergy and licensed by the Bishop for this pastoral ministry of bringing the sacrament of Holy Communion to the faithful who desire it. If you are interested in serving as an LEM or would like to bring attention to a situation that would benefit from this ministry, please contact the church office.
Cherished Member Luncheon
Cherished Member Luncheons are a ministry of the Episcopal Church Women of St. Mary’s Church. Luncheons are held on the first Thursday of the month, from October to April, at 11:30 a.m. for retired individuals. This is an opportunity for fellowship and to enjoy what is most likely the best meal in town that day!
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer shawls are a tangible reminder of the church's prayers and care for someone going through a difficult time. A group of knitters gathers most Tuesday afternoons at 1:30 pm in the Queen Street Deli to enjoy each other's company over lunch followed by time crafting beautiful shawls that are blessed at the church before being given away. If knitting, cross-stitching, crocheting, or any similar craft is a talent of yours (or if you would like to learn!) consider joining this group. For more information, please contact Tempe Younger.
